CARE VISITATION

Community Outreach Program to the Elderly

About
Care Visitation

The Care Visitation Programme for the Elderly was initiated by Southeast CDC in 1999 as a befriending programme reaching out to the elderly residing in HDB estates, ensuring that while they are living independently, they are not socially isolated.

In 2024, CARE volunteers befriended over 290 seniors, staying in the surrounding blocks of our AACs in Mountbatten and Tampines estates.

Our aim is to recruit enough volunteers to visit these seniors at least once a month.

Volunteering once a week recharges my tank.
— Leong, COPE volunteer

3-step connection:

#1 Visit

#2 Befriend

#3 Connect

Volunteers pay house calls, make friends to reduce social isolation, and connect elders to other services, including House of Joy.

#GIFTALITTLEFESTIVE

GiFt A Little Festive

Gift-a-little-festive was designed to create a micro-befriending experience for first-time volunteers and also to deliver festive cheer to our seniors staying alone.

Currently the programme mobilises more than 150 volunteers each year, reaching out to more than 2000 seniors staying in Mountbatten and Tampines.

Our inspiration for Gift a Little Festive:

独在异乡为异客, 每逢佳节倍思亲

Being in a foreign land alone, as a stranger, I miss my loved ones more dearly during the festive seasons.
— 王维, poet
